We want to educate people about the realities of sexual abuse. Most of the new sex offender laws have been promulgated by the families of victims. They are hurt and angry, but they have no special knowledge of how sex offenders think or of what can be done to reverse an offender's progressive mental/behavioral illness. Common sense solutions may not help and often can have dangerous unintended consequences.

These laws exist in the name of public safety, yet almost all experts on sexual abuse - including our own Dr. Samek - say that these laws are counterproductive to maximizing public safety. Moreover, these laws infringe the rights of many American citizens who have already paid their debts to society as well as the rights of members of their families, who are more often than not the victims of the sexual offenses. In many ways these laws are a danger both to American liberties and to public safety in America.
